Besides following a poor diet, one of the biggest mistakes people make when training for bigger muscles and mass is doing the wrong exercises. When you want to trigger muscle growth you need to work groups of muscles together. This builds all around mass and greatly improves your strength. The stronger you are, the more weight you can lift, the more weight you can lift, the bigger you are.
The best way to work your muscles if using compound exercises. Compound exercises target a group of muscles. For example, the bench press is probably one of the most popular exercises. It works not only your chest muscles, but also your triceps, and shoulders. Believe it or not, it also works your upperback to some degree. It is known as one of the best exercises for developing your upperbody muscles.
One of the best exercises known to man is the squat. Even though the squat works your legs, it is one of the best exercises for triggering overall growth. When you squat, it is believed that endorphins are released into the body that trigger growth. One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard was “If you want to get big you have to squat”. Squats are the best leg exercise out there. If you legs grow, your upperbody will grow too.
Another exercise for pure size and muscle gains is the deadlift. If you want to put slaps of muscle on your back, traps, and legs. If you want people to say “Damn that dude is huge”, then deadlift that madman!
Other key exercises are military presses, close grip bench presses, pullups, pulldowns, and rows.
Follow a good muscle building routine and program that includes these exercises and you will gain muscle mass, size and strength.
