Proper Diet and Nutrition for Muscle Mass

March 10th, 2008 · No Comments · Mass Buidling Diets

A diet is the cornerstone for your success in gaining mass. Weight training and exercising aren’t enough without a proper diet. Some say that you are looking to gain mass to just eat whatever you want, but in reality, you’re actually hurting yourself. If you are not using the right diet for your muscle mass building program, you are basically not doing anything for yourself.

In order to gain muscle size, you need to eat the right way. Eating the wrong and unhealthy foods will lead to fat growth, not muscle growth. You are looking to gain size and muscle, not gain a big gut.

There a variety of methodologies and thoughts on a muscle building diet. There are low car diets, high protein diets, etc. Protein should be essential part of your diet. If you are looking to gain mass, you need to be eating at least 1.5 grams of protein for every pound in your body. So if you weight 200lbs, you should be taking 250 grams of protein a day. You can get protein from good meat such as lean beef, chicken, pork, etc. Or you can supplement protein as well with Protein Shakes. Protein shakes are an effective way to help you increase your protein intake yet maintain your calorie intake.

Low carb diets have become increasingly popular. They are a quick way to lose excess weight. But since your goal is muscle and size you need to eat a balanced diet, that includes carbs. But, you should refine your carb intake. Stay away from high sugar food and try to eat whole wheat and natural foods. Staying away from processed food and refined sugars can really help you. Also, replace your soda with water! If you are looking for something with a taste, chill some green tea. They make green tea infused with fruit as well. It is a great substitute that allows you to enjoy your drink, and keeps your on track for building solid healthy muscle mass.
